Offline PDF Binder

If you’re on the move a lot and don’t always have internet access, or if you just prefer not to upload your documents online, you can always download our free software directly to your computer. The offline app gives you the same access to the merge tool, with the added bonus of not having to wait for slow internet connection.

On top of that, there’s also a handy PDF reader included in the app, so you can view and read your newly merged PDFs wherever you are. It’s available on Windows and macOS, and you can additionally download our Mobile app on Android or iOS devices.

Is Your Service Safe to Use?

Security is our top priority, which is why we use SSL encryption to ensure that your information is safe. In addition, all files uploaded to our merge tool are deleted from our protected AWS servers after an hour. The only exception to this procedure is with our eSign tool, which will store uploaded PDFs for up to 14 days while waiting to be signed.

We are also an ISO/IEC 27001 and GDPR compliant company, which means we follow all the necessary protocols to ensure that your documents and information are safe when you use our services. If you would like to find out more about this you can check out our Privacy Notice.

Are There Size Limitations?

We can process files that are up to 5GB in size, which should be more than enough for most documents in PDF format. If you do happen to have a PDF that exceeds this limit, fear not—you can use our compress PDF tool to shrink it down before binding them all together.

With that being said, if you are merging multiple files that are closer to the 5GB limit, you may experience slow download speeds while waiting for the process to complete. It might therefore be a good idea to compress your PDFs before combining them if they are large or if you are combining a large number of them.

If you’ve gone through the merging process without compressing and it somehow results in a particularly large PDF file, you will receive the option to compress the document, with no requirement to download and upload again to a separate tool.

Can I Combine non-PDF Files?

Merging documents in any format is a complete breeze thanks to our converter tool, with which you can convert your Word, PPT, Excel or image files into PDF. Once they have been converted from their original format to PDF, you can follow the steps above to use the PDF binder to combine your files into one.

If you decide you want to revert your now single document into its original format, just head back to the convert tool, upload the PDF and select the desired file type. As with the PDF merger, this tool is free to use, as are all of the other Smallpdf tools, which you can find a full list of on our tool page.
